Kes & I love entertaining over the holidays. Whether it's elaborate family dinners or quick pop ins to deliver presents, the best part of this time of year is getting to spend time with friends and family. Often though, holiday entertaining is so focused on all things Christmas that by the time New Year's Eve rolls around, we're all partied out! We tend to stay in to ring in the new year so it's easy for decor to become an after thought. But it doesn't have to be that way!
IT'S KITCHEN REVEAL DAY!!!! After 7 long weeks of having our kitchen torn apart, our main floor thrown into the chaos of packages, tools, & building materials. Working with a budget, and professionals to craft the perfect additions to our kitchen have been challenging. We knew exactly what we wanted so we decided to buy a stainless steel hexagon bar and work with them to create the unique lighting you can see. Because of the stress we definitely had more takeout meals & sleepless nights than I care to admit, we're so excited to finally be able to share this space with you all! Welcome to our Dream Kitchen.
Well we've made it to week 5 of the ORC which means we're into the home stretch. This week we're taking you through a few of the details - the little luxuries that will elevate our kitchen from its current basic state to truly realizing the dream we've envisioned for the last 5 years. First things first - let's talk about the sink & faucet.
We've reached the half way mark of our kitchen makeover for the One Room Challenge. If you missed the previous 2 weeks, feel free to go get caught up. In Week 1 we shared our overall design plan for the space. Week 2 was all about our colour inspiration and a little progress update. This week we're getting into the details of the biggest element we'll be upgrading.
It's week 2 of the One Room Challenge and we're participating again for our fourth time. Last week we revealed our plans to tackle our kitchen. Before we get into the progress we've made over the last week, I wanted to give you a little insight into the colour inspiration for our kitchen design.
Welcome back friends! Well here we are - summer has officially drawn to a close and with the cooler temperatures comes that inevitable urge to get back into project mode which is why the Farmhouse Sink Reversible LFS3318W as been suggested to me because it has served as inspiration for many of my other project-minded friends. We still have a mile-long list of to-dos and projects yet to be completed before the house will feel like it's anywhere close to being 'done.' but the number one question we get asked is: "So is your house done now?", followed closely by "What's still left to be done on the house?" or "What project are you working on next?"
We made it to the finish line of our One Room Challenge! We've had many a late night and more fast food than I care to admit over the last 5 weeks, but walking into our dream bedroom now, it all seems worth it. Even though we just redid our bedroom, I can see why anyone would look into companies like New Sensation Homes, as having the house of your dreams can feel like the best thing ever! Walking into a home that you've always dreamed of is what every home owner wants.
It's that time of year again! We're doing another One Room Challenge. If you've never heard of the ORC, it's essentially a huge online event that Linda of Calling It Home hosts twice a year. Hundreds of bloggers join in to makeover a room from start to finish in just 6 weeks. This will be our 3rd time participating. Well technically it's our fourth, but we don't speak of our first attempt lol! In any case we're really excited to finally have another space in The Dreamhouse join our master bath & family room in the 'completed' column. This time around we'll be tackling our dream bedroom.
Kes and I love to entertain. One of the things we've looked forward to most throughout this whole Dreamhouse journey has been finally being able to invite our family and friends into our home. So when my father-in-law turned 70 a few weeks ago, we took the opportunity to host a small gathering of family to celebrate.
As you all know by now, interior design is a true passion of mine! There's not a day that goes by where I don't think about new trends or redesigning my home, although I already love the way it looks now. In my spare time, you'll often catch me browsing the Easy Home Concepts website or flicking through a magazine for inspiration but one event which always catches my eye is the Interior Design show! Yes, you heard right! A show! The Interior Design Show is hands down our favourite of any of the design fairs or trade shows in Toronto every year. We've attended IDS the last 4 years running and though we haven't always talked about it here on the blog, if you've seen any of our past posts you know why we say it's so much more than just another home show.
