Happy Thursday!! Tonight kicks off this year’s Interior Design Show in Toronto. If you’ve never been & you’re in any way thinking of renovating, decorating or just in need of some inspiration, I HIGHLY recommend you check out IDS 2014 this weekend. I know what you might be thinking –
“ok…so it’s just another ‘home show’ what’s the big deal?”
Well let me enlighten you. We attended IDS last year for the first time and were absolutely blown away! It’s not just about walking the floor & finding home products – though there is an aspect of that too. The focus of IDS is to inspire. To check out the latest trends in design & to take in what’s possible.
Take IKEA for example. Anyone who knows us knows we’re huge IKEA fans to begin with. But their display at last year’s show was the absolute highlight for me. Not only was it stunningly beautiful, but it showed us what’s possible and totally attainable without needing a million dollar budget.
We found ourselves asking repeatedly: “THIS is IKEA???”
Right?!?! Its not surprising that the display won a Gold Booth Award.
Tonight we’ll be attending the IDS Opening Night Party along with a pre-party cocktail reception with PARA Paints & a few fellow members of the PARA Blog Crew who I’m really looking forward to catching up with. Afterwards at the party we’ll have a chance to preview the the exhibitor booths (presumably with a glass of wine & some yummy eats!) Last year on the show days we were so overwhelmed by all of the incredible exhibitor displays that we didn’t get a chance to sit in on any of the seminars. Hopefully checking things out ahead of time tonight will allow us to rectify that this time around – I’m particularly looking forward to Melissa Davis’ ‘Taking the Complexity Out of Colour’ which will be running for the public on Saturday at 11 am.
