Well we're just past the half way point of our One Room Challenge! We were a little late with our Week 3 update so we decided to combine weeks 3 & 4. Despite the delay though, we're super excited to finally get our modern shiplap boards up on the walls! Better late than never right?? If you follow us on Instagram, you might already know that we spent last week enjoying a little sun and sand. As a result, our progress on the powder room hasn't been quite as much as Kes & I had hoped. I regret nothing. But now that we're

We've made it to week 3 of the One Room Challenge which means we've officially hit the half way mark. If you missed the previous two weeks, you can go get caught up on the before of the space and the design inspiration for our "Modern Marvel" Boy's Bedroom. This week we're focusing on the geometric feature wall treatment we'll be creating behind Kash's bed.

We're finally into the home stretch of our dream kitchen makeover. It's week 6 - which if you're familiar with the One Room Challenge is typically the day of the big reveal. This round however because of all the hurricanes & flooding that have impacted so many people across the US over the last few months, the reveal date has been extended to give everyone an extra week. Thankfully we haven't been hit with any natural disasters, but we've definitely had our share of setbacks in the kitchen so for us, that extra week has been a bit of a blessing in disguise. Maybe you're considering renovating your kitchen and something like a trending white transitional kitchen is the look you're after. No matter what you have in mind, hopefully, this can translate in reality, so you can get the kitchen you've dreamed of.

We're into Week 4 of our 6 week kitchen makeover for the One Room Challenge. This week we're adding some open shelving. Whenever anyone walks into our kitchen, the first comment we get is usually get is "Wow, that's a lot of cabinets" and to be fair, they're not wrong. We do have a lot of cabinets. But in my opinion, you can't have too many cabinets. Without realizing it, your kitchen holds more items of food, equipment, and cutlery than you ever thought possible and without this cabinet space, where will they go? Of course, it's also the perfect opportunity to get in touch with somewhere like this cabinet maker melbourne company who can design and make the perfect cabinets that can complement your room aesthetic, making it not only visually appealing but also practical. Even better, right? So, whilst there are a lot of cabinets, they all have an individual purpose that can help to make the kitchen the best room in the house.

When we set out to build seating for our backyard fire pit, Muskoka chairs (or Adirondack chairs for our American friends) seemed like the perfect option. In true 'Dreamhouse' fashion though, we put a bit of a modern spin on the Canadian classic. Our Modern Muskoka Chair has sleeker, more angular lines than the original, but all the comfort of cottage life. Here's how we did it:

There's just a few short days to go before Canada celebrates it's 150th birthday and all across the country people are getting ready for the party. Everywhere you go, businesses & homeowners alike are getting into the Canada Day sprit with displays of national pride, flags & colours. When RYOBI reached out to us to create a Canadian themed DIY in celebration of Canada's 150, we needed not look further than our own backyard (pun intended)!
