I’m so excited to share this adorable boys’ bedroom reveal with you today! If you saw the nursery reveal last week, you probably remember the gorgeous family of 4 in the framed photos. I mean, how could you not!? They’re such a stunning family! Well, in addition to the nursery for their 3rd boy on the way, this family needed a “big boy room” for their 2 older sons to share. That meant I got to create not one, but two very special spaces for them.

With 2 energetic boys on their hands, we wanted the overall feel of the space to be cool and calming, but with an injection of playfulness. The chosen colour scheme uses white walls as a base while greys, blues & soft mint greens are accented in the furniture, bedding and accessories. We chose this incredible vibrant, geometric wallpaper mural. which was generously provided to us by Photowall. The colours are so vibrant and beautiful and really help balance the muted tones elsewhere in the space.

It’s even better in person than I expected, and the installation was super simple. After entering the wall measurements on their website, the mural arrived from Photowall in just over a week. It came in one continuous roll with each panel clearly labeled for where to be cut and numbered for installation. The package also included a pouch of wallpaper paste that just needed to be mixed with water.  The whole installation process took less than 3 hours and I am completely in love with how it turned out!

A bold wallpaper mural in jewel tone blues and greens add a fun pop of personality to the otherwise muted tones of this boys bedroom reveal.

The jewel tone blues and greens add a pop of personality. I also love how the large format triangle shapes play off the angles carried through the furniture accents & bedding. The addition of wood textures in the furniture pieces and artwork serve to create a sense of warmth.

Kes and I built these custom LED light boxes for the boys. They serve dual purpose as fun pieces of artwork as well as a secondary lighting option. You might remember that we built similar ones for Kash when we redesigned his room a few years ago. They have been great for him to use to wind down at bedtime when he’s not quite ready for lights out, but the overhead light is a bit too much. I envision the boys sitting here on their little sofa reading bedtime stories together.

With growing boys, having multi-functional furniture pieces are key. The kids size sofa doubles as a fold out sleeper bed which is a fun option for eventual sleep-overs. We also opted for bunk beds, allowing us to maximize the use of floor space. As the boys grow and eventually move into separate rooms, the bunk beds can convert into single twin beds that will be useful for many years.

Going from one boy to two, means that the storage needs for the space are instantly doubled. I love how this mid-century inspired toy box provides some much needed storage, but also doubles as a bench for the little ones to use when getting ready in the morning.

Replacing the existing bi-fold closet doors with these panel doors allowed for full access to the closet. This meant we could place a full sized dresser inside as well as lots of hanging storage for clothes and bins for toy storage. Speaking of toys, what little boys’ room would be complete without a cute shelf to display a few of their favourites. It’s always a fun exercise to go through their books and toys and other fun stuff to incorporate into the room styling.

I absolutely love how this space came together! And the boys’ little faces when they came in and saw it for the first time literally made my day! I hope you love your new room little dudes and it will be a place for you to hang out and make so many memories together as you grow!
